Vision Mapr: Mind Mapping Without the Freemium Guilt Trip
Most "free" productivity tools are free the way a demo car is free — you can sit in it, you just can't drive it anywhere useful until you pay. Vision Mapr states its position on that up front, right on the login page: "free to use, with no feature limits behind a paywall." Open a blank canvas, start mapping, everything autosaves as you go — that's the whole mission statement.
Mechanically, it's exactly what you'd want from a mind map: double-click the canvas to add a node, drag to connect nodes to each other, format text bold/italic/underline, color-code and tag nodes with icons, style connections, and auto-arrange the whole map in one click when it's turned into spaghetti. Save multiple maps, switch light/dark mode, export a finished map as an image to actually share it with people who don't have an account.
An honest observation about the homepage
Unlike most of this network's front doors, Vision Mapr's homepage is the login screen — new visitors land straight on username/password fields with a "Register here" link underneath, rather than a marketing page that eventually funnels toward a signup button. It's a more direct approach than most SaaS products take, for better or worse: no scroll-past-the-fold hero copy, just "here's the tool, get in."
