You know that feeling when a drive silently drops out of a ZFS mirror and nobody notices for nine months? Silicon Pirates is what happens when someone takes that exact feeling and turns it into a browser game instead of therapy. Tagline: Build. Break. Defend. All three are mandatory, in that order, whether you plan for it or not.
Since September 2026 it's Beta 3: a free 3D homelab and server rack simulator where power, networking, storage and services behave like real infrastructure, not a progress bar dressed up as a management sim. You start with $1,000 in Lab Credits, a 12U rack and four crates on the rug in the main room. What you buy, how you wire it, and whether it survives a fault is on you. Machines open up at the workbench, the internet comes from an ISP box you pay every month, and faults tell you exactly what to fix at the box.
It's free, and it's honest about what it is
Play free in the browser at sp.silicon-pirates.com with a free account, nothing to install. It's a beta and says so: new systems and balance passes ship all the time, and every change is written up. The optional crew ranks help pay for the server; nothing in the game is locked behind them.
